A Few Days Near Mt. Rainier

Some good friends invited us to camp with them at Silver Springs Campground, near the base of Mt. Rainier. We were super stoked that we both had the time off to do it, so here are a few of the pics from a very relaxing, beautiful trip from Monday through Wednesday of this week. The campground is beautiful with the light filtering through the tall trees. Plenty of space in each site. Great neighbors all around us. No hookups, but even with the fan running all night, each night, we lost no power because of our solar setup.  We can't wait to go back!

Fort Worden State Park, Washington

Many of you have probably spent time at Fort Worden, so you know what a cool place it is. For those who haven't yet, we'll share a few pics from this weekend at the park in our teardrop. Fort Worden State Park is (ironically) on the grounds of the historic Fort Worden--an Army installation constructed between 1898 and 1920, and in use as a military facility from 1902 to 1953. It consititued one third of the "triangle of fire," a strategic system of three forts with huge armaments designed to defend the Puget Sound from any kind of hostile attack. The forts were never engaged in battle, but many of the facilites and the huge guns are still in place. (You can read a little more about its past and present HERE . Fort Worden is also the filming locations for the movies "An Officer and a Gentleman" (1982), and "The Ring" (2002).
